OpenAI long-term memory and MCP

OpenAI is launching a “memory” feature in ChatGPT that will allow the bot to adapt responses based on previous conversations with the user. This innovation should make communication more personalized – users will no longer have to repeat information they have already communicated.

The feature will first be available to ChatGPT Pro and Plus subscribers, with the exception of users in the UK, EU, and some other European countries where additional checks are required to comply with local regulations. There is no information yet about the launch for free users.

By the way, this long-term memory feature can be implemented for Claude independently, using an MCP server. However, in this case, you will have to remind Claud that it “needs to remember”.

We look forward to better propagation of long-term memory feature across popular AI platforms including wider MCP protocol integration and more options for self-hosted LLMs.
